CML Micro Unveils Single- and Two-Stage GaAs Power Amplifiers for Advanced Wireless Applications

April 2025 — CML Micro, a leading provider of RF and microwave semiconductors, has expanded its portfolio with the introduction of both single-stage and two-stage Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) power amplifiers. These new offerings are designed to meet the evolving demands of modern wireless communication systems.

MMA-011015: 1–10 GHz Broadband Medium Power Amplifier

The MMA-011015 is a broadband medium power amplifier covering frequencies from 1 GHz to 10 GHz. Fabricated using advanced GaAs PHEMT technology, it offers:

  • Gain: 15 dB
  • P1dB: 16 dBm
  • Efficiency: Approximately 52%
  • Operating Voltage: Single bias of +6V with 80 mA operating current
  • Size: Compact 1.0 x 0.9 x 0.1 mm package

This amplifier is ideal for applications requiring a broad frequency response and medium power amplification, such as communication systems and radar technologies.

CMX90A006: 860–930 MHz 2W Linear Power Amplifier

Extending its SµRF range, CML Micro introduces the CMX90A006, a two-stage InGaP (Indium Gallium Phosphide) power amplifier optimized for linear performance and high reliability. Key features include:

  • Frequency Range: 860 to 930 MHz
  • Output Power: +33 dBm at 1 dB gain compression
  • Efficiency: 52% Power Added Efficiency (PAE)
  • Operating Voltage: Wide supply range from 2.5 to 5.25 V
  • Package: 4×4 mm thermally enhanced Very-thin-profile Quad Flat No-lead (VQFN)

This amplifier is well-suited for ISM (915 MHz) and SRD (868 MHz) band applications, including UHF RFID readers, smart metering technologies, and various battery-operated IoT devices operating in license-free UHF bands.

CMX90A705: Ka-Band GaN Power Amplifier

For satellite communication applications, CML Micro offers the CMX90A705, a two-stage GaN (Gallium Nitride) linear power amplifier operating in the Ka-band (27.5 to 31 GHz). Specifications include:

  • Saturated Power: +37.4 dBm (5.5 W)
  • Small Signal Gain: 16.5 dB
  • Integration: RF input and output ports matched to 50 Ω with integrated DC blocking capacitors
  • Package: 4×4 mm thermally enhanced air-cavity Quad Flat No-Lead (QFN)

This amplifier serves as a cost-effective solution for developing commercial satellite communication terminals, offering a balance between performance and integration. citeturn0search5
